Orange Conference Gallery

Standard

The interactive gallery behind the stage at the Orange Conference was an oasis of reflection, away from all the noise and busyness.

936 marbles mark the number of weeks (hours) that a ministry leader will have in a child’s life from birth to high school graduation.

Or the weeks that a parent has.

Pretty sobering and somewhat alarming, but the visual effectively cemented the fact that our time matters.

With each tick of the clock, tear of the page, turn of the calendar, our marbles slowly diminish.

Stories matter.  Tribes matter.  Words matter.  Fun matters.  Love matters most.

With each age and stage come new needs, skills and demands.  Parents and ministry leaders are partners for each precious life.

Even when we think they aren’t listening, they are.  Even when we think they aren’t watching, they certainly are.

Love over time is what matters MOST.  Our love for them, and God’s love for us.

Who is in your tribe?  What do you hope to accomplish with the time you have left?

I was shaken to the core and didn’t need the Legacy App to tell me that I had “7 marbles” left until graduation.

I determined to make each one count.

  1. This gives me such a sense of urgency. Add Grandparent’s to this calling too! Love the meaningfulness and messsage of this art.

  2. Reblogged this on Take the Automatic 7 and commented:

Yesterday as I dropped the Grounded Graduate off at the airport for his flight out of the country, I told him about these marbles, and how the fact that I had to drive him to work after he got a triple traffic ticket at a stop sign was like getting “extra marble time.” He smiled and said, “I liked it too, Mom.”
